Tabula Rasa Inc., means “a slate that has been blanked.” The name was chosen to represent the belief that every person has the power to begin anew; to rewrite their story and shape the life they wish to lead.
Our vision is to create a doorway to transformation, where individuals, regardless of their past experiences or circumstances, recognize that each day offers a choice: the choice to become the healthiest version of themselves in mind, body, and spirit.
At Tabula Rasa Inc., we believe in empowering people to take ownership of their thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and behaviors, fostering growth, healing, and the freedom to redefine their future.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to making healing and growth accessible through a variety of therapeutic approaches. Our services include Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy, Equine-Assisted Learning, Animal-Assisted Treatment and Interventions, and Traditional Office-Based Psychotherapy.
We offer personalized services for individuals aged 13 and older, as well as support for couples. When appropriate, we also provide small group and family sessions, creating safe spaces where people can rebuild trust, strengthen relationships, and discover new paths toward well-being.
All of our services are led by a Doctor in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) who is trained and certified in the use of horses and other animals, as well as other integrative approaches to facilitate growth and healing. Psychotherapy is a personal healing journey a process of exploring one’s thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and behaviors to develop insight, coping skills, and strategies for growth. When this journey is supported by the integrative power of animals and nature, an unprecedented opportunity for transformation can occur. Through Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP), Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL), and Animal-Assisted Treatment and Interventions (AAT-I), clients engage in meaningful, experiential activities ranging from therapeutic exercises to hands-on lessons in teamwork, communication, and trust.
These services nurture healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Clients learn to regulate emotions, manage thoughts and perceptions, and make intentional behavioral choices. Within this safe and supportive environment, individuals are encouraged to engage in self-reflection, fostering qualities such as self-confidence, self-acceptance, self-esteem, accountability, assertiveness, discipline, integrity, responsibility, honesty, and trust.
In addition, our programs support the development of communication and social skills, promoting empathy, patience, teamwork, leadership, respect, kindness, and advocacy, which are all essential foundations for meaningful relationships and personal well-being.
We are also dedicated to supporting our first responder communities by providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD) when they experience difficult or traumatic events in the line of duty.
Our CISD group are all current first responders or retired first responders from various fields who are certified in CISM.
CISD sessions are offered to first responding agencies following a critical incident. These debriefings are typically held at one of the participating agencies’ service sites or HQ, creating a familiar and supportive environment. During these sessions, the experiences and emotions of first responders are respected and honored as they process the event, recognize signs of stress, and learn practical ways to care for themselves and one another.
Our goal is to help first responders lessen the long-term emotional and psychological effects of critical calls—supporting their resilience, well-being, and continued ability to serve their communities with strength and compassion.
